Our Journey

"Charged AI began with one real client moment, and a mission to bring clarity when it matters most."
2021

The moment it clicked

Mohammed Shoib was working as a paralegal when he supported a client through case papers and the Sentencing Council guidelines. The client was facing around 36 weeks in custody. As the reality set in, the client visibly changed, anxious, overwhelmed, and struggling to process what was happening. Mohammed Shoib had a plan to pursue a suspended sentence, but one question stayed with him: how many people experience this same fear and confusion every day?

Late 2021

We validated the need

Mohammed Shoib ran a survey with 529 participants. 93.6% said they would research their situation themselves if facing charges. 88.5% said they would use the internet to do it. But the issue was clear: online legal information can be complex, time-consuming, and unreliable, especially when you are under pressure.

2021–2023

Research and foundations

Mohammed Shoib focused on understanding the scale of the issue and how technology could make sentencing guidance more accessible, clearer, and faster, without the noise.

Late 2024

Backing the vision

Mohammed Shoib was introduced to Abdullah Abbas, a business enthusiast with a shared belief in improving access to justice. Abdullah Abbas invested and funded the initial development phase.

March 2025

Development begins

Initial development started, turning the research into a working web app.

September 2025

Mohammed Shoib saw Rayyan Siddique's app, loved it, and reached out to him because he needed him on the team. Rayyan Siddique joined as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), leading improvements and strengthening the technical direction of the platform.
